TIE BREAKER RULE

 
   


Subject:      TIE BREAKER RULE CLARIFIED       RULE 5 SECTION 7

 
   

A: Once 7 innings have been completed, or (in a time game, (local ground rules), time has elapsed) and the scores are tied. In each half inning thereafter, the offensive team (batting team) shall begin its turn at bat with the player who is scheduled to bat ninth (not necessarily the 3rd out of the previous inning) in that respective half-inning being placed on second base. The player who is running can be substituted in accordance with the substitution rules.

B: Starting with the top of the 10th inning, or (in a time game after 2 complete innings of Tie Breaker) and in each half inning thereafter, the offensive team (batting team) shall begin its turn at bat with the player who is scheduled to bat ninth (not necessarily the 3rd out of the previous inning) in that respective half-inning being placed on third base. The player who is running can be substituted in accordance with the substitution rules.

Note to Sec 7

If an incorrect runner in the line-up is placed on base, this error may be corrected as soon as it is noticed and there is no penalty.
